About Pauline Pasilis

"Following the sun from the ancient land of the Bible--Israel--to the new 'Hispanic' world of Mexico, I have been depicting the myths and street life of these two disparate cultures for the past 30 years. Love of blue skies and brilliant light is the bridge linking my paintings, fusing color and form in bold works to create my unique, personal image and emotion in oil and other media." - Pauline Pasilis

Pauline Pasilis began her art studies at the Stella Elkins School of Fine Arts at Temple University in Philadelphia. Wishing to take part in the exciting art world of New York City in the 1950's, at the Hofmann School she became a participant in the now historic post WW II art scene.

By the 1970's Pauline was ready for a change of venue and a new life and migrated to Israel two months before the outbreak of Yom Kippur War in October 1973. During the 15 years that she lived in Israel she worked in watercolor and serigraphy. She has exhibited at the Horace Richter Gallery in the newly restored port of Jaffa which had become a thriving cultural attraction to visitors from all over the world. She also exhibited in Rehovot at the Beit Ha Tarbout, one of Israel's many country-wide centers for music and the plastic arts.

On a visit to Mexico in 1986, Pauline discovered the astounding beauty of San Miguel de Allende. From time to time she paints and exhibits there. Her first exibition in San Miguel de Allende was at the Instituto Allende in 1998.
